Wim is a Decision Architect at IMAGEM and focuses on a question that is becoming increasingly important: how do you make good decisions when issues are complex and different interests, perspectives, and ambitions converge? With his expertise in artificial intelligence, knowledge technology, and cognitive science, Wim looks beyond data alone. After all, data shows what is happening, but for good decision-making, you also need to understand what that information means. What knowledge is relevant? What interests and values come into play? How do different people view the same reality? And what does that mean for the choices at hand?
At IMAGEM, Wim brings these worlds together. He combines knowledge of human decision-making with data and technology to make complex considerations transparent and explainable. In doing so, he focuses, among other things, on Digital Reality: the next step in the “ Digital Twin,” which takes into account not only the physical living environment but also the way residents, entrepreneurs, and policymakers perceive and value that environment.
It is precisely this interplay between people, knowledge, and technology that fascinates Wim. Not technology as an end in itself, but technology that helps us understand different perspectives, explore scenarios, and make more informed choices when addressing complex societal challenges.
Curiosity is part of Wim’s nature. He likes to look beyond what is visible at first glance and explore new perspectives and possibilities. In his free time, he does just that—literally. With his love of caving, he explores caves and caverns wherever he can.
